What is an internet browser and which one should I use?

An internet browser is the program that you use to go on the internet such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

Balance Retraining works with most internet browsers. However, if you use Internet Explorer or Safari, the website may not display correctly, and it may affect the content of the website that you can view. We recommend Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

If you wish to download a new internet browser, please use the following links:

Why can't I access all of the sessions at the moment?

Balance Retraining has been carefully created to give you information in the right order. Each week you will be able to access a new session with new information.

MAC Users

We advise that users access the website from a PC rather than a Macintosh wherever possible. However, if this is not possible, there are a couple of things to be aware of:
  • As a Mac user, when you click the 'back' button you may be asked to 'resubmit form' with the options of 'cancel' or 'send'. When this happens, please click 'send' in order to continue.
  • Please also be aware that the website may look slightly different to how it looks on a PC. These differences are only to do with the look of the website and should not affect its usability.
Tablets and Smart Phones

We advise you do not access the intervention via a tablet or smart phone. The intervention was designed for use on a PC and may not display or work correctly on a smart phone or tablet.

The website is really slow, is there anything I can do?

There are a couple of things you can try if you are finding the website too slow:
  • Delete your browsing history. The way you do this depends on the browser you are using.
  • Use the internet at a less busy time such as early in the morning or during the day.
  • Download a new internet browser.
I accidentally closed the internet without finishing the session

Don't worry. Balance Retraining has been carefully designed to help you find your place if you did not mean to close the internet. You will be taken back to a point in last session you began from which it should be clear how to get back to where you were.

There is a 'next' button but it is not working

Some of the pages in Balance Retraining have interactive sections for you to fill in. Some of these have been designed so that you need to complete them in order to move on to the next page. This is only with parts of the website that the design team specifically think are very important. Most of the time if your 'next' button will not work, it will be because you need to complete something on that page.

If you are still unable to click 'next' you can try closing your browser and logging back in again.

Why is there a 'back' button, can't I just use my browser button?

Balance Retraining has been designed for you to use the 'next' and 'back' buttons as sometimes the 'back' buttons do something other than just going back. However, if you find yourself on a page with no 'back' button and you wish to go back, please use the 'back' button on your browser.
